Be the change you want to see. You have the power to change the world. Don’t take my word for it… Think about it! How many political changes, social transformations, or inventions have occurred because someone boldly stepped forward and initiated them?
Where would India be if Gandhi had played safe and small? What if Martin Luther King had kept his dream to himself, would the United States still be segregated?
What kind of technology would we have if Steve Jobs had not taken computers seriously?
I’m not saying you need to play big to change the world… the simple act of choosing love and peace over anger and recrimination sends ripples of love out into the universe. If you see an act of injustice, you can do something about it. Be the change you want to see!
The Haiti Community Project is building strong houses to withstand hurricane force winds for families who lost everything in Hurricane Matthew. Since only 1 percent of the $10 billion earmarked for Haiti reached the people, we stepped into the vacuum
and decided to be the change! Although our new, all-cement houses in the mountain village of Mussotte cost only $4,000 USD to build, they transform the lives of families who have been living in fragile, leaky houses of tin, plastic and straw, giving them a sense of safety, stability and pride.
Imagine living unprotected from insects, scorpions and centipedes. Imagine, dirt floors flooding during the rainy season, with water and mud permeating everything. Imagine your roof leaking so bad you are unable to protect your possessions.
